MARCH ANNOUNCEMENTS!

Whew. It's been quite a busy month for us Westlake. Multiple try-outs for various organizations have occurred over the past few weeks. Way to go to everyone who made soccer, dance company, drill, ect ect. Also a round of applause to WHS Varsity Ballroom team who placed 6th at the BYU Nationals Ballroom Competition in High School Latin Formations.

Congratulations to the Juniors for winning the Spirit Bowl (though Seniors should've won *cough*). It was a great assembly and I personally had so much fun. Pictures will be posted later this week of the event.

Also thank you to PTSA and the caterers for hosting the Ninth Grade Night Dance. It looked like a blast and I'm sure everyone who attending had tons of fun.

Service Month

December is Service Month!

We have 2 service projects happening this week.

First is our Change Wars. We are raising money for Challenge Day, a program that will help students at Westlake. Students from each grade will put their change into the bottles during the week. The class with the most change will get into the Dance on Friday for free. If the Freshmen win, they will have an extra dance for free after school, in the future.

The second project is our Canned Food Drive. HOSA is sponsoring the drive. We are having a competition between your A1 classes. Prizes for the classes with the most cans at the end of the week! Keep your cans in your A1 class!

On Friday there is a basketball game against Kearns at Westlake. Come to the game and stay for the Christmas STOMP afterwards. We will have a special appearance by Santa, so come and get your picture taken. Cost is $3.

There is an Art Show all this week in the Media Center. Go and see the student art.

ELECTIONS WEEK

Well it’s definitely been a bit of a busy week for all those running for office. Right after school on Monday, we all met up to work on posters till about 4 o’ clock. Turns out we have some artists. Several large posters were made, which hopefully you’ve seen hung around your school, as well as small, individual posters for the candidates. I hope you students have been nice to the posters because a lot of time was put into them. On Tuesday, the potential student body officers traveled over to Willowcreek. As the middle schoolers filed out, we passed out a lot of candy and little handouts reminding you when (and more importantly who) to vote. To all those Westlake Students, please remember to throw away your trash. Once the buses had left, Student Council picked up a lot of candy wrappers from the handouts both inside and out. Lets not have it be like that at our new school, which we should keep nice and clean.
Student Council then visited Willowcreek a second time on Wednesday. They’ve also been campaigning at the high school during lunch hours. The polls closed today and we’re all anticipating to find out who is on next year’s student council tomorrow, so listen up to your announcements!
